KONFYDENCE JOURNEY TO MAGNUM STING 2014

For many aspiring Dancehall/reggae artist male or female the dream of performing on stages like; Reggae Sumfest, Rebel Solute and Reggae Sting plays a vital role in becoming a star, and Konfydence is no different. The insight recording artist who grow up in the small fishing village of Rocky Point in Clarendon  has always wanted to be a recording artist, she knew from early that in order to achieve this goal she would have to work hard and own her god given vocal, dance, and acting talents more than any other deejay; male or female in this highly competitive business.

Over the years Konfydence name a has begun to reignite with the people as they recite her lyrics to Bait in their everyday lives, and the buzz that is coming from her latest hit "Busy" has the streets calling it true to life. Recently team Konfydence lead by Insight records CEO, took a major step by investing in building Konfydence name and brand in the cyber world  "To meet the demand for good music you must have a place where the world can find you, we are not going to depend on just radio or tv anymore we are going directly to the people launching her music all over the cyber world with one click" (Jimmy Ricks). With a new concentration on outlets such as; Youtube, Myspace, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and her blog team Konfydence is welcoming fans to Konfydence World.

It came as no surprise that with all the hard work Konfydence has put in this year she was granted the opportunity to perform at Reggae Sumfest 2014 which she delivered a stellar performance. After Reggae Sumfest Konfydence maintained her focus and went back into the studio working on new material for her fans while taking on other bookings such as Lime Full black among others.
2014 must be the year for Konfydence as she is also booked for Gt Taylor Christmas extravaganza on December 25, but to top the year off Konfydence has been booked for what is considered by most as the greatest one night reggae show on earth, Magnum Sting 2014 where Konfydence finds herself in one of the most anticipate performance sets of the year dubbed as the Fabulous 5 (includes Ishawna, Sylysh, Tiana, and Destiny) on December 26.

The Insight recording artist Konfydence will be ending this year with a bang, and ready to bring the New Year.

DANIELLE DI THE JAMAICAN CLEOPATRA

Music and sex may speak the same universal language. When we think about the Reggae/Dancehall music industry in particular sex has always played an important role in an artist expression and that’s the naked truth. Female artist who have the right stuff takes pleasure in using their lyrics to accent their sexy: With that fact they put it on the world; From Grace Jones to Lady Saw. The world has had to at times hold their breath in anticipation of Jamaican sexy.  Danielle DI is one such artist who knows that she has the goods, and she is a far cry away from being afraid to show it off; in her music, videos, and photographs; making her a certified Jamaican boomshell. Danielle DI has been in the music business for some time now, and has evolved into what some may call a "Rebel Mouth" Diva who has dropped some of the hottest lyrics as a female in the Reggae/Dancehall industry in a long time.
The male groupie changes the playing field as Danielle DI has her fair share of them, and get a chuckle from it. Not many women out there hold such confidence in their bodies, but for DI she wears her sexy like a badge; Roadshow Ja; would like to suggest that Danielle DI may be todays image of a Jamaica Cleopatra, but don't get it confused, she is a microphone murderer with skills that match her beauty, her career has been nothing but stellar releasing hit after hit with catchy one-liners, and choruses that, you'll here in passing; as everyday people go about their day with her lyrics on their minds, but it doesn't stop there; Roadshow Ja decided to do a little digging to see how viable of a artist Danielle DI is in the cyber world; to make it in the music industry today you must have a cyber-presence, and we were impressed; on Google her name has been searched more than 9 million times in different variation, over 150k fans throughout the social networks, and over 13 million hits to her video content worldwide. If our math is right Danielle DI may have brought in over 132k US this year alone from content monetization; without counting her music downloads.
Danielle DI is on a major assault for 2014; with one thing on her mind; success. Road Show Ja reached out to Danielle D.I. for a one on one with her and her plans for the future; this is what she had to say:
DD: Who is Danielle D.I.?
DI:  Danielle is a humble easy going individual however D.I. is a fiery rebel. I decided to merge the names to show so the public could get the idea of the best of both worlds.
DD: How would you describe your style of music?
DI:  My style is female empowerment motivated. The industry is male dominated thus, the ladies need a voice. I try to be real. Expressing things most are afraid to say. The topics vary, on everything we girls talk about behind closed doors, what makes us tick plus the issues we face.
DD: How hard is it for a female to make it in the Reggae/Dancehall music industry, and what gives you that edge?
DI:  Its extremely hard! It's not because the females don't wanna work. Female artiste do extremely well in other genres. I think we don't get a fair chance in ours. It sexism play a major factor; as we face a lot of sociological, and economical issues.
DD: You have no problem flaunting that sexy body in pictures and music videos, etc.; how important is image to you?
DI: Image is everything! The saying is true, so I ensure I'm on point and not only in appearance, but with my reputation too.
DD: We know the ladies have no problem throwing themselves at male artist, but what is it like for you as a female artist with so much sex appeal to have men throw themselves at you?
DI:  LOL Isn't that something? Male "groupies" are definitely out there and I love them. They motivate me. When people give you their time and attention you've got to appreciate that.
DD: You just ended rjr's Cross Country Tour, what was it like with your being on the road with the other artist, and what was it like to feel so much love from fans?
DI:  It was awesome! I had a great time; spending time with my peers was fabulous we got a great chance to bond. I even got ill on the bus, and to see how gospel artiste Omario came quickly to assist me was incredible; everyone was concerned about me; was Its like were all family. The fans gave me a different drive it was amazing how they know the songs; word for word, but most of all I enjoyed taking pictures with fans, signing autograph, and  giving out lots of hugs; the love was there in abundance.
DD: What are you currently working on?
DI: I'm working on my latest release with Kiprich, Hear The Pree". We started to perform it together on stage; this past weekend. I also shot a video for, "Talk It Out" feat. Tiana. That's will be considered the next female anthem! Its about telling the world, say what you want; cause your still gonna stand firm regardless of what they have to say. I also have a new song on Sounique records Igloo riddim.
Road Show Ja is always ready to see what new and exciting things Danielle DI will be doing so we will definitely keep it locked to her every move. Be sure to check her out on all social networks we promise your eyes, and ears won’t be disappointed.

SMOKIN ACEZ MEDIA RE-BRANDING JAMAICA

The multi media forefront for Jamaica has a new power player by the name of Smokin Acez Media Consultants; their model engulfs media/new media, marketing,  development/placement/implementation, advertising, social media//new media monetization, music/product distribution and more. They have become the one spot shop for major corporations, record labels, crowd founders, Investment firms, and more; while consulting for large, PR, advertising and marketing firms in Jamaica.

Smokin Acez is the driving force of such companies as Road Show Ja Tv, giving way to a new breed of Jamaican television programing that is said to provoke the diaspora to engage; by bringing Jamaica to the world and the world to Jamaica. This program is set to be extremely tourist friendly while staying true to Jamaica's culture and popular trends. We were giving a sneak peek of host Debbie Debz sky diving from a plane at 12,500 feet in the air after loosing a friendly bet with a celebrity co-host. The program; will air in late April. You know your doing something right when while in production, and in the early stages of launching any form of social media campaign, and a new blog "The Road Show Ja Blogger". They have gotten the attention of one corporate giants; CEO Don Wehby of one of Jamaica's oldest and most respected brands Grace foods along with the Jamaica tourist broad, Red Stripe, Rumfire, Island Shakes, TVJ, and many more. Who are all following their progress on the social networks adding themselves as friends.

On this day in particular the team hosted talks with Metis Motors CEO Melisia Morgan, and allowed Roadshow Ja Blogger the opportunity to sit in on the meeting, that was both explosive and intriguing to see how one company (smoking Acez Media) could create Synergy between more than one
company to create sales in the market place; we also learned that Metis Motors had joined forces with the new kid on the block CarMax Jamaica setting up a power move in the new car industry, if you are familiar with the CarMax theory, and your a used car dealer be very afraid, or figure out a way to join forces, we asked Smokin Acez reps. what they thought about the metis Motors/CarMax alliance. "its Jamaica at its best co-branding is the way of the world, people will talk about this alliance for years to come; I promise you that; we are now the CarMax way and understand their strategy quit well used cars Is only a start trust me on that one, they will dominate with service with a smile first, with one goal in mind a happy, and revolving customer, this wont get by us so don't be alarmed in the future if you here the Name Smokin Acez along with Metis Motors/CarMax very soon".

We were granted an off the record look at an exclusive client list that was accumulated over space of less than one year; which was very impressive, but one client in particular stood out, and we fought for permission to write on it, but its all hush; hush so we had to ask how was this done so quietly. "We understand what brands want and they are going to get it; with smokin Acez why should a brand spend dollars and cents without a certified return, but it doesn't stop there with all our brand we push for outside interaction with the diaspora to increase distribution and awareness to the brand for a fraction of the internal cost which reflects on the bottom-line. We plan to re-brand Jamaica for the world eventually increasing new cash flow entering the island via tourism, cyber revenues, and much more, this is no joke to us there are too many Jamaicans out of work today; so we choose to play our part in expanding our brands which will in turn increase the work force creating new jobs; while continuing this pattern throughout the Caribbean creating stronger alliances with brands that will take us around the world. We all have Usain Bolt in us, but for some its not quick feet; our brands pay us to think big, and think fast, yet the result is the same; gold".

We then turned to entertainment as we witness staff members grouped around images, and data we didn't know exist of Singer, actress, and model Aisha Davis so we had to get the scoop. "Aisha is like no other she has toured the world 10 time over and now were ready to make her a house hold name starting with her newest single "Free Falling" which shows off her true vocal skills, we have all
original idea for her, and have created brand campaigns that will make her the face of such brands as Christian Beverages Audigier Jamaica; a signature brand that has brought the world famous brands like Ed Hardy, Von Dutch, Diesel and much more, TATA NANO Jamaica, and more to come, we don't believe that an artist should just be a artist, Aisha is a brand, and we have big plans for her,
we know the industry will be watching, and their in for fire works; if you did not know who Aisha was before this article your in for a surprise. Our doors are open to any company in Jamaica that might need the next big idea, and away to implement it; we plan to change the concept of business as usual, those days are over if we want to see a new revitalized Jamaica it will take all sectors of industry to make it happen so for now we'll wear as many hats as we can. Success is not an option for us its our religion we live by one creed "we brand; brands" and its that simple".

Smokin Acez seems to be more than on the cutting edge, and have plans to launch a new series of products onto the market that; we have been promised the exclusive on for the launch. When these products hit the market we believe it will set off a fire storm with consumers.

STEPHEN HAMILTON "THE NEW KING OF #FOODPORN"

It's some times a hard task finding that one thing that makes you go "this is what i want to do with my life"; as many people spend their whole lives trying to find themselves, simply to say they followed their dreams, happily this wasn't the case for Chef Stephen Hamilton owner and founder of Eskay Catering. This young entrepreneur wears many hats, one could be easily fooled in to thinking that he is older than he really is based on his many achievements such as; Trainee Food and Beverage Manger, Assistant Restaurant Manager, Corporate Chef, Executive Chef, and Mentor. Chef Hamilton is "Ready fi di road" as we would say in Jamaica.

With his incredible love for food; Chef Hamilton takes nothing for granted as he is steadfast on delivering the ultimate food experience to his customers in each bite.

Yam, Cassava and Breadfruit are some foods that most chefs would toss to the side as they are not considered by most as the tastest veggies on the market, however this is not the same for; as we call him super Chef Hamilton, who will tackle anything head on; he lives in a state of creativity, always considering the taste buds in every delicious creation.

Never afraid of the spot light Chef Hamilton always ready for an interview. Road SHow Ja invaded his kitchen for a one on one and this is what he had to say:

DD: Who is Stephen Hamilton?

CH: Stephen Hamilton is a vibrant, and talented individual who is a foodie, a talented chef as well as a role model for the younger generation, fully achieved despite my age.

DD: How long have you been in the catering business?

CH: I have been in the business from 2008, and made it; officially in 2012 while leaving University of the Technology Jamaica.

DD: What would you consider your greatest achievement so far?

CH: My greatest achievement so far was being the booked caterer for Mr. Ian Boynes Profile of Excellence Book launch twice at Kings House, catering for the most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, the governor general and the list goes on.

DD: When did you discover that you had a love and passion for food?

CH: At a tender age of seven observing my mother in the kitchen cooking and from that age until now I have been a foodie and love to explore different produces with spices.

5.    DD:To have a successful business discipline and execution are two very important factors especially in the food industry. How have you at this young age figured out these key elements of success?

CH: As majority of individuals would say in today’s society “age is just a number” at this age of 26, discipline and execution has been instilled in me at a tender age from home, doing my chores,  school with my assignments and now my own business executing events.

DD:  For a young entrepreneur what are some of the challenges you have faced in starting your own business?

CH: It would be a fallacy to say that I didn’t face any challenges starting my own business. Challenges such as capital to buy equipment as well as transportation was very evident during the initial stage.

DD:  Recently you catered for approximately 4000 people. What does it means to you to have filled such a tall order?

CH: It means happiness when I see large requests in, as to give patrons a taste of what Eskay catering has to offer, and that after wow effect on their taste buds. It is proper timing, staffing  and customer service as well as skills to effectively execute this event.

DD: Road show Ja recieved word that you might be heading to Dubai later this year. Tell us how you feel to have received such an invitation? Elaborate.

CH: WOW this invitation is like winning a million dollars. I have always heard about Dubai of its rich cuisine, high lifestyle… and always wanted to affiliate myself or my brand with such a reputable country. Sitting back and observe as Eskay Catering goes international would be a dream come true, a business that started out of college then to another country.

DD: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

CH: Operating my own outlets for Eskay catering, my culinary show with Road Show JA, a product on the market, Recipe book as well as giving back to society

DD: What is your advice  to young people who want to follow their dreams of becoming a entrepreneur?

CH: “The day you stop trying is the day you fail at your dreams”. Don’t expect the working world is a bed of roses with media, money etc. You have to work for it and keep your head up high, keep focus and be self driven.

DD: You seem to have a passion for what you do. what gives you joy at the end of each job completed?

CH: The comments patrons leave warms my heart to know that they enjoy my creations as well as they are happy within that the customer service is at its utmost best as well as creativity.

DD:  Most people spend a life time trying to figure out what they want to do in life. what made you decide so young this the career for you?

CH: Time waits on no man. Being a foodie at a tender age and has grown up to appreciate the love for it as well as doing it as a  hobby, speaks volume of the right path to choose. If I had chosen a different path I’m sure I wouldn't be this happy as I am today with my own catering business

As with most people who choose the life of a entrepreneur Hamilton faced many challenges in the process of building his catering business; however he pressed on to success so we leave you with this; " The day you stop trying, is the day you fail at your dreams" Chef Hamilton; which leaves only one option for this highly gifted young man. Road Show Ja/Smokin Acez is also extremely excited about our newest venture with Chef Hamilton, we will be producing a new cooking series that will be like none before it so brace yourselves. The next time you have a special occasion remember Chef Stephen Hamilton of Eskay Catering. Road Show Ja promises it will be love at first bit.

OMI THE NEW JAMAICAN HEARTTHOB

He has the essence of American R&B singer Neyo; while boasting a nostalgic Reggae sound with a youthful twist. OMI first made his way on the Jamaican music scene in 2012 with his breakout single " Cheer Leader" the media circuit went wild drawing to Omi like a moth to a flame; wondering where did this kid come from. In no time at all "Cheer Leader" was being played by most major sound systems, radio dis jocks, and was being highlighted by main stream media. The song soon made its way onto two of Jamaica's most reputable charts that span outside the Jamaica boarders; hitting number one for six consecutive weeks, and lets not for get about young Jamaica who made this tune their ultimate sing along tune.

Even the little island of Hawaii, got in on the Omi craze; grooving to the rhythmic sound of "Cheer Leader"; fans of the song even took to youtube; creating covers postings of their own rendition of the song; making the song one of the most talked about in that region for 2012. Team OMI wasted no time in releasing the second single "standing on all threes" causing a domino effect with history repeating itself, with this new song being just as successful.

Sky is the limit with this young heartthrob who has steadily be come the the choice of the ladies with a European tour in the works, and a team of veteran strategist lead by the infamous Clifton "Specialist" Dillon who is known to produce hit maker who became world renowned stars; the stars may have aligned them selves for Omi; as his career seems to show all signs of success.

Writing this article give some what of a throw back feel to me, as we both share the same alma mater. I remember watching the young Omi singing every chance he could get during lunch breaks, for groups of girls or even in the classroom so it was no surprise that he has reach these level of stardom, because he made real life his practice stage before he touch the real one. Road Show Ja dropped in on OMI and his team for a one on one session and this is what he had to say:

DD: When you first came on the scene many people were questioning if you were a Jamaican, mainly because of your sound. How would you describe your style of music?

OMI: My style in particular is a marriage between the old and the new, paying tribute to the past to assure the future and having a distinctive sound that the people will readily identify.

DD: When did you discover that you could truly sing?

OMI: I discovered that I could truly sing when Clifton “Specialist” Dillon became my manager, I knew then that I had something special.

DD: Cheerleader had major success here in Jamaica and around the world. What other singles can we look out for?

OMI: I have a few songs out, you can go to my website at www.omimusiconline.com and visit my you tube channel to take a listen. Some are not officially released, but I like to keep the fans entertained until time to go full blast.

DD: Can we look forward to seeing you collaborate with any international acts anytime soon?

OMI: In terms of collabs, you will most definitely see this happen in short order both locally and internationally. As a matter of fact, I have a collab releasing shortly featuring a very popular Dancehall artiste so keep a look out.

DD: What are your plans for the rest of 2014 and where can we see you next?

OMI: My plan for 2014 is work, work, and more work, and fans can go out and purchase your plane tickets from now as there will be a European summer tour coming up also a few shows in the US Lol; but I sincerely hope that I will be performing for my real jam down fans very soon.

DD:  Specialist has worked with some of the biggest Jamaican acts who's seen major international success. What is it like working with him?

OMI: Working with Mr. Dillon is more than a privilege it is truly an honor, apart from being a mentor and a fully competent business partner he is a really good person, and my Oufah family is the best straight up.

Road Show Ja can only expect the best from OMI and his team. and would like to thank everyone for dropping everything to accommodate this interview. We close with; there are times when you know your in the presence of a star, but we often times will ignore it, but this is not one of them we see a true talent in the making and Road Show Ja would like to acknowledge that and tip our hats to Omi.
