The male groupie changes the playing field as Danielle DI
has her fair share of them, and get a chuckle from it. Not many women out there
hold such confidence in their bodies, but for DI she wears her sexy like a
badge; Roadshow Ja; would like to suggest that Danielle DI may be todays image
of a Jamaica Cleopatra, but don't get it confused, she is a microphone murderer
with skills that match her beauty, her career has been nothing but stellar
releasing hit after hit with catchy one-liners, and choruses that, you'll here
in passing; as everyday people go about their day with her lyrics on their
minds, but it doesn't stop there; Roadshow Ja decided to do a little digging to
see how viable of a artist Danielle DI is in the cyber world; to make it
in the music industry today you must have a cyber-presence, and we were
impressed; on Google her name has been searched more than 9 million times in
different variation, over 150k fans throughout the social networks, and over 13
million hits to her video content worldwide. If our math is right Danielle DI
may have brought in over 132k US this year alone from content monetization;
without counting her music downloads.
Danielle DI is on a major assault for 2014; with one thing
on her mind; success. Road Show Ja reached out to Danielle D.I. for a one on
one with her and her plans for the future; this is what she had to say:
DD: Who is Danielle D.I.?
DI: Danielle is a
humble easy going individual however D.I. is a fiery rebel. I decided to merge
the names to show so the public could get the idea of the best of both worlds.
DD: How would you describe your style of music?
DI: My style is female empowerment motivated. The
industry is male dominated thus, the ladies need a voice. I try to be real.
Expressing things most are afraid to say. The topics vary, on everything we
girls talk about behind closed doors, what makes us tick plus the issues we
face.
DD: How hard is it for a female to make it in the
Reggae/Dancehall music industry, and what gives you that edge?
DI: Its extremely
hard! It's not because the females don't wanna work. Female artiste do
extremely well in other genres. I think we don't get a fair chance in ours. It
sexism play a major factor; as we face a lot of sociological, and economical
issues.
DD: You have no problem flaunting that sexy body in pictures
and music videos, etc.; how important is image to you?
DI: Image is everything! The saying is true, so I ensure I'm
on point and not only in appearance, but with my reputation too.
DD: We know the ladies have no problem throwing themselves
at male artist, but what is it like for you as a female artist with so much sex
appeal to have men throw themselves at you?
DI: LOL Isn't that
something? Male "groupies" are definitely out there and I love them.
They motivate me. When people give you their time and attention you've got to
appreciate that.
DD: You just ended rjr's Cross Country Tour, what was it
like with your being on the road with the other artist, and what was it like to
feel so much love from fans?
DI: It was awesome! I
had a great time; spending time with my peers was fabulous we got a great
chance to bond. I even got ill on the bus, and to see how gospel artiste Omario
came quickly to assist me was incredible; everyone was concerned about me; was
Its like were all family. The fans gave me a different drive it was amazing how
they know the songs; word for word, but most of all I enjoyed taking pictures
with fans, signing autograph, and giving
out lots of hugs; the love was there in abundance.
DD: What are you currently working on?
DI: I'm working on my latest release with Kiprich, Hear The
Pree". We started to perform it together on stage; this past weekend. I
also shot a video for, "Talk It Out" feat. Tiana. That's will be
considered the next female anthem! Its about telling the world, say what you
want; cause your still gonna stand firm regardless of what they have to say. I
also have a new song on Sounique records Igloo riddim.
Road Show Ja is always ready to see what new and exciting
things Danielle DI will be doing so we will definitely keep it locked to her
every move. Be sure to check her out on all social networks we promise your
eyes, and ears won’t be disappointed.
