SOPHIA BROWN CRYING OUT FOR "CHANGES"

We all know her name and we love to hear her sing, it's Reggae songstress Sophia Brown. Sophia is making it known in her latest collaboration featuring Ginjah that they are both ready to see some "changes" in our country.  

Even though this is a very emotional song which speaks to the times we are in, it was very easy for Sophia Brown to write mainly because of all the hurt and pain our brothers and sisters are currently experiencing, so she felt a sense of responsibility to represent for them by giving a voice to those who may consider themselves voiceless. 

"There are so many things I would like to see change. The way human beings treat each other is very big on my list. The youths to have better leadership from their home manners is lacking in the way we are raising our children. More jobs for young people, so we don't have to see so many of them rubbing out their hand middle day by day and drinking, feeling like that, is their only solution" Said, Brown.

In addition Brown also had this to say;  "Education needs to be more accessible for the youths the vision of our leaders should be inspired by our young people in mind. Because they will soon become the victim without vision. without proper systems in place for us to overcome the challenges, there will be no changes". 

Sophia Brown wants all her supporters to know that she is back and better than before. Brown took 18 months away from her music as a result of a car accident she experienced back in 2017 "I am ready again to make this work my business my life all over again 

So expect to see the work from me as I am ready to go one hundred %".

"ALKALINE" THE CHRIS BROWN OF JAMAICA

His fans call him the youngest, and the baddest, ladies Dancehall is about to have a new face by the name of alkaline. It’s time to pay close attention to this one; his marketing, has been surrounded by his free expression and he is not letting up. The last time we at Road Show Ja have seen young women respond to an artist in Jamaica like this; was with the King himself Beenie Man, but Alkaline seems to be growing in his own space and time. The confident with a humble undertone; alkaline caught our attention so Road Show Ja took to the streets to survey what fans had to say, and out of 300 people; one comment the ladies had in common was Alkaline is the Chris brown of Jamaica (without the issues); which lead us to believe there’s a bigger story here.

Recently Alkaline promoted and headlined his own show; and the ladies showed up, to bruck out; we’ll leave you to Youtube to see it for yourself. Sky is the limit for this young artist. There’s no doubt it’s just a matter of time before the world comes knocking, and they will. We decided to do some fact checking to see how big his fan base was, and where better to look than the social networks; where we found he had 27.9 million view to his content across Youtube , 20  million hits to his name on Google, 2 million hits to his various hashtags; with a presence on Facebook, and Twitter; numbers are worth its weight in goal; just in monetization, and content harnessing; where looking at a possible $600,00.00 US dollar without counting sales from download, yes impressive numbers for a young artist in this market.

Alkaline

Earlier this week; the alkaline camp was shaken up by the departure of his manager, but the fire has already been lit, and both will go on to bigger and better things. Some may not agree with most of his lyrics, and apparently trend setting styling’s, but you can’t deny that he has something special, questions has lingered for some time about his tattooed eyes, here’s a spin that you might find interesting; it’s been said your eye are the gateway to your soul, and in some cultures covering the eyes is a form of protection from evil or simply evil minded people; we've even heard mixed views about his tattoos of choice, and I reiterate his choice; yet tattooing has been part of African warrior culture from the beginning of time. We say loosen up people, and dig a little deeper finding another level of consciousness, and allow this young artist to evolve.

Alkaline

We have a gut feeling there is more here than meets the eye; so road show Ja will go out on a line and throw our endorsement behind the young warrior. We understand one thing; numbers don’t lie, and the more exposure he gets the more powerful he become play apart in his evolution,  and be careful not to jump to unfounded Judgments. Road Show will be watching closely; don’t be surprise if Alkaline become the artist to bring Reggae/Dancehall back to the Grammy stage.

THE TRIAL OF JAMAICA VS D’ANGEL

D'angel

At the greatest one night show on earth (Reggae Sting) on December 26, 2013; D’angel took the stage for the second time that night at the request of the legendary Dancehall dj Ninja Man, and in traditional fashion gave the crowd of over 20,000 people and an unknown amount on pay per view; a show to remember. After the show mainstream media went into a frenzy attacking the first lady of Dancehall; accusing her raunchy behavior, indecent exposure, and the down grading of the Jamaican woman.

Dancehall music has been a part of the Jamaican culture for almost 40 years, and has even surpassed the name Reggae becoming a dominant factor in the international commercial market. Jamaica has alway been marketed to the world as the land of good food, music, and beautiful woman, Sting itself has been a staple in the Dancehall community for 30 years; known for its controversial “boxing day” clashes between rival artists, and has always promoted the freedom to express in an adult setting, this year the promoters of sting serve mainstream Jamaica a blow like none other; it would air the concert outside of Jamaica on the international stage via major media hubs around the world via Pay per view with a major marketing campaign larger than ever been seen in Jamaica, which poke the question was this about D’angel who had done nothing more or less than the women or men who have proceeded her over the last thirty year.

Sintra Arunte-Bronte

Let’s all take a second to reflect on the past for a minute in 1972 Jamaica released a promotion that would grace airports and commercials around the world of the beautiful Trinidadian model Sintra Arunte-Bronte, who was dressed in nothing more than a wet tight tee shirt highlighting a certain part of her female anatomy to attract tourist to come to Jamaica at a time when the world was a lot more conservative than it is today; yet D’angel a mother, and a upstanding member of the entertainment community; who has contributed to many philanthropic endeavors gets crucified for one performance while the whole world twerk on Youtube.

As a result D’angel was band from Reggae Sting for life; Mr. Laing banning an artist from Reggae Sting can only hurt the culture you helped to build, and keep alive for more than 30 years; maybe you should reconsider your position, and simply have a conversation with the acts you had disagreements with, and come to a resolve instead of having the aftermath play out in pubic; showing the world that Dancehall is a close nit community that may disagree at times, but can resolve its issues internally.

Some positives did come from this as D’angel became a trending topic on twitter, and had more than 1.1 million searches to her name on Google days following the event; yielding her a wider fan base; Reggae Sting also received more hits in the cyber world than any other concert in Jamaican history. So lighten up Mr. Laing the public spoke, and we at Road Show Ja believe they have told you who they want to see next year.  It’s time to get over it and restore the first lady to her rightful place, and if I may say she is deserving of some apologies Jamaica.

JAZZ AND BLUE FESTIVAL JAMAICA 2014

The 18th annual Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, is here again with another awesome international lineup; with Toni Braxton, Chaka Khan, Marcia Griffith, Joe, Arron Neville, Beres Hammond, The O'Jays, Chisette Michele, Bryan Art, Chronixx and many more; which means the Trelawny, Greenfield Stadium is sure to be rocking from Jan. 30 - Feb. 1 2014; one performance in particular that fans are anticipating is Jamaica's own Beenie Man; who as the promoter puts it; will be giving fans another side of himself. Beenie Man has always been known for his many stylings; from Dancehall to Country music; so get ready to be entertained, the doctor is in; ladies come get your prescriptions.

Sources close to Road Show Ja say according to airport authority’s; arrivals are up as patrons pure in from around the world; needless to say the jazz and Blues Festival has always been great for tourism, and the economy as a whole as it brings in new revenues to the market place each year. So lets show our support, and don't forget to patronize the vendors as they play a important role by introducing our food and culture to travelers from around the world who tend to buy Jamaican products like Red Stripe, D&G, and Grace Foods when they return home.
